We have enjoyed going on cruises and we tend to go for the informal dinning option so you get to sit with all different people if you go into the formal restuarant for a meal rather than the buffet. The opening gambit for conversations tends to be what did you do today? Is this your first cruise or have you sailed with this ship before? Where do come from, etc? On this occasion it was the where do you come from question. One of the guests opposite said she lived in Lytham St Anne’s. The person next to me asked where that was to which my reply was near Blackpool. Unfortunately this seemed to upset the originator who said emphatically that no Lytham was actually near Preston and was not close to Blackpool at all. When the person next to me asked where Preston was, quick as a flash Tony immediately responded that it was near Blackpool. Much to amusement of most of the table. In reality Lytham is just down the coast from Blackpool and is the posh part with the links golf course etc. A bit like the Clacton and Frinton issues about who is the poshest i suppose.
